Inquiry Timeline Set - No Comment
From Bishop (November 29, 2004)
The mood, for the most part, appeared to be fairly
upbeat after the inital meeting with Attorney General, Michael Bryant, at the
Cornwall Civic Complex this morning. A number of high profile officials and
victim group representatives were on hand. Coming out of the meeting, Bryant
indicated he wanted to "get this thing underway as soon as possible". He then
qualified that and added he hopes to name a commisioner to head the inquiry
sometime in the early new year. The scope of the inquiry is expected to be
wide-ranging. The only person to not comment to any media was Cornwall Bishop,
Paul Andre Derocher. He is on record as opposing any inquiry which would
investigate the actions of the church.
